Thanks for the prayers!

Thanks to everyone that has been keeping my father in their thoughts and prayers. He successfully had open heart surgery on Thursday, 11/29. My step-mom Jackie and I were at the hospital at 6am with my dad. He went into surgery at 8am and the surgery ended around 1pm. It was a long waiting period, but the nurses were really nice informing us what was going on throughout the surgery. We got to talk to the doctor around 1:30pm and we got to see my dad around 2:30pm, after they got him settled in ICU. He still had a tube down his throat until around 5pm, so he couldn't talk until then...and he was really tired and needed lots of rest. I got home around 8:30pm Thursday night, so it was a really long day. Everything went as expected, so all is good right now. My brother Brian, and his son Benjamin made the trip from Minnesota on Friday (His wife Katie and his one month old son, Daniel, stayed home). The adults got to go up to the hospital for awhile Friday evening while my aunt Nancy watched Benjamin and Kelly. My dad was doing a lot better....in just one day. He had color back in his face and was doing really good. On Saturday, my mom and step-dad came to Dyersville to watch the kids so that we could spend the afternoon and evening with my dad and Jackie at the hospital. He got moved out of ICU in the afternoon and got moved to a bigger room on the cardiac floor. He is doing well....but it is a long process! He will be in the hospital until probably the end of this week and then he will be at home recovering for 3 more weeks. After that, he has at least 6 weeks of therapy. He had a valve replaced and had bypass on an area where he previously had a stint put in when he had a heart attack 4 years ago. Please continue to keep him in your prayers for a healthy recovery!
Below are some pictures of the kids playing....you know me, I have to always take pictures when the kids are together!
On Saturday morning we took Kelly and Benjamin to RC2 Outlet store in Dyersville. At the store, they have a HUGE Thomas the Train set for the kids to play with while you shop. Both kids had a lot of fun! Grandma and Grandpa Murray met us there to see their grandchildren. (They don't miss any opportunities to see the gradnkids!) They came to watch the kids so that Brian M., Brian S., and I could go to the hospital to see my dad for the afternoon and evening.

Playing at our house....Benjamin pushing Kelly!

Grandma Peggy made them both blankets when they were born...Benjamin's is blue and Kelly's is purple. As most of you know, Kelly doesn't go anywhere without it!

My future swimmers....Benjamin and Kelly both loved to put on swimming goggles. Here they are Saturday morning playing while wearing their goggles!

Benjamin and Kelly in their PJ's Sunday morning......and their swim goggles too!!!
