So proud....

Kelly's first grade class was in charge of leading the all-school mass today.  Kelly was so excited to be chosen as one of the first graders with a reading part.  She read three of the six prayers of the faithful.  This is her second time reading in mass....as she read at the end of the school year in Kindergarten as well.  She is getting so old!!!

Enjoy!

Shopping with Maria

I am the home room Mom for Kelly's class again this year.  I collect $10 at the beginning of the year from everyone in the class for a class Christmas/teacher birthday gift.  Her teacher really wanted her 1st grade class to adopt an "angel" from an angel tree in lieu of a personal Christmas gift for herself.  She feels like it really teaches these 6 & 7 year olds about the true meaning of Christmas!  Since I am the Room Mom.....I was the one that did the shopping....and I thought it would be great for Kelly to pick out some things for the "angel" she picked off the tree!  She picked a 6 year old girl!  Kelly thought it would be fun if one of her friends from her class was able to go shopping with us too....so she picked Maria and the three of us had a fun afternoon.

While shopping at Wal-Mart.....we ran into Santa!  They took this adorable picture for us!!!
The girls picked out a Doctor Barbie, City backpack, fleece blanket, and puzzle.  I also got a shirt, pair of jeans, Old Navy fleece jacket and pants, scarf, hat, and mittens at Old Navy with some great black Friday specials!
We hope our angel has a wonderful Christmas!
After an afternoon of shopping.....the girls enjoyed Kelly's favorite snack place - CHERRY BERRY!

Family Traditions

Brian has always had the Snyder family tradition of making "lefsa" for Thanksgiving!  Kelly has really gotten into it the last couple years and LOVES making it with Grandma Pat and Daddy.  Molly helped a little bit this year too!
 Grandma Pat & Kelly

Kelly was able to do some parts all by herself this year!

Not the greatest picture of Kelly....but you can see Molly rolling one out in the background.

**The girls had a great time and look forward to carrying on this Snyder family tradition!**

Election Day 2012

Xavier celebrated Election Day with a "mock election" and patriotic costume contest.  One person per grade was chosen as the MOST PATRIOTIC.  We had an all school-assembly at 2pm to discuss the results of our school election and announce the winners of the patriotic contest.  They announced preschool first.....and MOLLY WON!!!!!  She was very hesitant going up to get her certificate and award...but she did it!!! :)  When they got to first grade......KELLY WON as well!!!  I think the girls had my birthday luck....and Kelly had a lot of competition in 1st grade!!!
Since Election Day was my "real" birthday....Brian took a picture of the girls and I before we left all dressed up in red, white, and blue for school.
Molly going up to get her certificate from Mrs. Heisler....a little hesistant, but SO PROUD that she did it!!!
When Kelly's name was announced....she JUMPED RIGHT up and loved her moment of fame in front of the school!!!!

My birthday

We celebrated my birthday early with my Mom as she is leaving for a trip to California to see her friend.  We had a nice meal at Tony Roma's followed by Texas Chocolate Cake.   The girls love being able to help blow out the candles.  Mom also gave us Betty Jane Caramel Apples to enjoy and a couple pieces of buster bar dessert to keep in the freezer! :)  I have had my share of desserts this week!

***Thanks Mom & Michael for a nice meal and all the goodies!***

S*T*A*T*E

We completed a very successful swimming and diving season at the State Meet in Marshalltown Nov. 2 & 3.  I had a wonderful group of 24 girls this season.....with minimal drama.....and 9 of those girls being a part of the state team!  A varsity school record was broken this season (Emily Schroeder in the 200 IM as well as a frosh/soph school record by Sean Kalb in the 100 Free).  It was a wonderful 14th year coaching the WCHS Swim & Dive Team.
