Skate Country

The girls and I got together with Jen and her kids at Skate Country.  It has been awhile since we have all been together and Jen wanted to give Kelly her Christmas present (Jen is Kelly's godmother).  The kids all had fun skating....and of course Kelly was excited to get a present!

 Myles (4), Kelly (6.5), Ana (8.5), Madison (10), Molly (4)
Kelly loves her roller blades and gets better every time she goes skating!
Molly wears the fisher price skates that go over her shoes....she does great skating with those!

Jen spoiled Kelly!
She gave her a "K" purse from Justice to match her wallet, Justice sparkly headbands, a Bubble jewelry set, and a CD she made for her with 34 new FUN songs for her MP3 player!

First Sewing Lesson

Kelly has ALWAYS been interested in crafts!  She has a long attention span for doing any type of craft project.  In the past year she has been making "dresses"....she uses fabric scraps from Grandma Peggy or some pink fabric that she got for her birthday.  She tapes them together and makes lots of things.  While at Grandma's house one day....she put together lots of fabrics and told Grandma what and where to sew for the dress she put together.  She even took a needle and thread and hand-sewed different things.  She loves any type of crafty thing....bracelets, bead projects, painting, pot holders, etc., etc., etc.  If you remember correctly.....Kelly was upset to miss school (due to strep throat) because it was an ART CLASS day!  She loves her craft time!

When my Mom and I went Christmas shopping this year she saw a Singer kids sewing machine and thought it was the perfect gift.  Kelly opened the sewing machine and was SO EXCITED!!!!  She tried it out with Grandma Peggy and they couldn't get it to work.....after all it was plastic and pretty cheap.  Kelly was pretty bummed.  Grandma Peggy did some research and found this Janome Hello Kitty sewing machine.  It's a "real" sewing machine and perfect for kids learning how to sew.  Kelly was thrilled!  Since this is a real machine....Kelly is getting sewing lessons from Granmda (since I do not sew) before she brings it home.  It doesn't have a guard over the needle so Kelly is learning how to use it properly.

Her first lesson was Sunday....and from what I heard....Kelly did great!  She even sewed her own PJ pants that we gave her for Christmas that were too long!
Kelly and Grandma Peggy with her new sewing machine!
 Kelly really concentrated!
Papa Michael was vacuuming downstairs while Grandma and Kelly were sewing....and Kelly stops to say "Why does Papa have to be so loud when I am concentrating!?!?"

She takes her craft times seriously.....and she had a great first sewing lesson with Grandma Peggy!

Beckman Dance Camp

Kelly attended the Beckamn Dance Camp for the second year.  This is a camp for Kindergarten through sixth graders at the Catholic High School in town.  Kelly enjoys dancing.....as much as swimming and soccer!  The theme of the camp this year was Monster Mash!

Kelly wanted a picture with her dance camp certificate!

We spent Christmas Day at my Mom's house with some of my extended family.  It was a relaxing afternoon...without presents.....great food (Thanks Mom!) and great company.  The kids played with some of their favorite gifts while the adults played cards.  It was a wonderful end to our holiday celebrations!

Christmas Morning

We had a good Christmas morning at home....it started a little too early (ok, A LOT EARLIER) than we would have liked!  That's what happens when you have a VERY EXCITED 6 year old!

Kelly woke up at 3:52am ready to see if Santa came!  We sent her back to bed.  She lasted in bed until 4:50am when I went to lay with her....to try to hold her off.  I was hoping she would fall back asleep.  Well, that didn't happen and by 5:20am we went to get Daddy to see if Santa came.  Molly was still sleeping.  Kelly saw all the things Santa brought her and had starting playing with everything before Molly came out at 7am!
