Day 2 with Molly's eye patch

KIDS ARE AMAZING!!!
This is the second day with Molly's eye patched....and she did absolutely wonderful!  Kids adapt to things so well.  Don't get me wrong, we had a few struggles....but already on the second day I have seen how much better she has done from yesterday!  She fights putting the patch on in the morning and after nap time.
**Side note....two days in a row with a nap for Molly is WIERD to me!
She has a hard time waking up and realizing that she needs to wear the patch to get her eye better.  She had a special visitor come to the house this morning to check on her and play with her.  Molly LOVED that Papa Bear came to see how she was doing!!!  He brought her a couple things.....a gallon of "real" chocolate milk that he knows she loves....and 10 golden dollar coins.  He said they needed to count them and she could put them in her piggy bank.  Molly did GREAT setting them out and counting them!!!  Then Papa Bear reached in his pocket and emptied all the rest of his coins....they counted them and Molly's piggy got 17 more coins to put in her bank!  Molly thought it was a lot of fun!  Oh....and he had her reach into his pocket to get a "bill" out of it.....well, needless to say...Molly gets to pick out a present the next time we go to the store if she keeps wearing her patch!  Papa Bear was a great help with Molly today!
Molly & I spent the first 1.5 hours of our morning playing PLAY-DOH!!!
Dad & Molly counting the coins before she could feed her piggy!
Molly is really working with making her eye stronger!
She played dress up a lot.....here is my beautiful Rapunzel!!
 Harper & Molly
(We went over to Emily's to watch her daycare kids for a couple hours while she took Natalie for her 2 month appointment.  Harper came late today so she stayed upstairs with Molly & I and watched "Hop" as the other kids were sleeping....but they both ended up falling asleep too!)
Two days in a row - a nap for Miss Molly!!!
Making that one eye work is really tiring!
While Kelly was at a friends house, we went to the park.  Molly had a great time!!!
Molly & Harper making the BEE go FAST!
Walking home with Harper....they held hands on their own....it was adorable!

Day 1 of wearing the patch = 6.25 hours
Day 2 = 10 hours!!!

YEAH MOLLY!!!

Day 1 - Molly's eye patched!

Today was Molly's first full day with her one eye patched.  Overall, she did pretty good....I'm proud of her!  I can't imagine what she feels like...having her good eye covered.  She has a strong will and I believe she can get through this!!!  She probably did better than I did at times throughout the day!  It tears my heart to pieces seeing her struggle at some of the simplest things.

**She wanted to watch Dora this morning and asked me to sit with her.  After a few minutes, I looked over and her eye was shut.  I said I thought you wanted to watch Dora.  She said "I can't see her...I am just listening to Dora!"

**It was her weekly story time day at the library.  She was fine at the library and went into the room and seemed ready to go.  After two minutes, Miss Kim came out and told me what Molly told her.  She said "Miss Kim....I can't see the book! ....and she started crying!"

She fought me this morning to put the patch on, so I finally told her if she wore it until story time, we would take it off.  That was the only way I could get it on this morning as she buried her head into the chair!

This is how her day went....
She woke up at 6am....but we didn't get the patch on until 7:45
7:45-9:30 = 1.75 hours
12:30-1:30 = 1 hour
Took a 2.5 hour nap from 1:30-4:00 with patch on
She took the patch off on her own when she woke up!
It took me 30 minutes to get one back on her but....
She wore it from 4:30-8:00pm = 3.5 hours!

**So....she wore it 6.25 hours while she was awake today....a good start!!!
Here she is trying to make her eye work while doing a puzzle at the library before story time.
 Patch #1 for the day!
I took this on my phone when she went in for story time.  I told her I would take the patch off, but she just went in on her own and sat down with some of her friends.  It was 2 minutes later I took it off after she told Miss Kim she couldn't see the book!!!
**I think this picture is adorable because Chase and Ethan were just watching Molly and Alaina be silly!  The boys were watching the girls!!
Nap time.....patch #2
**Molly doesn't normally take a nap, so it was out of sorts that she fell asleep!
Patch #3 at the park this afternoon
It was hard to see her at the park as she was really scared doing a lot of things that she always does!  You can see she is scared in this picture! :(

So...it was an up and down day for Molly!  We hope these next 3 weeks help her eye!!!!

Eye Patch

We found out this morning that the doctor is patching Molly's GOOD eye....to try to strengthen her not so good one. She is supposed to be patched as much as possible and we are going back in 3 weeks. Molly is also being referred to a pediatric eye specialist from Madison. Her good eye is 20/50....and her bad is 20/200! That is CRAZY! She is not seeing out of that eye at all. It isn't a lazy eye or cross-eyed YET....but she is not using it at all!!!

Below is the CUTEST little girl ever to wear an eye patch!!! We tried the one kind of the patches tonight for an hour as Molly said she wanted to. After about 30 seconds she was crying because she said she couldn't see! She said "I need TWO EYES to see! I want it off!" (If she only realized she was only really using one eye). We couldn't get her to keep her glasses on with the patch. We'll see what the next few days bring. I got a book from the library about a little girl who has to wear a patch. We are going to read it before bed. Thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes. I think I'm going to need them tomorrow!

P.S. The only reason she was smiling in this picture is because Daddy was TICKLING her!!!!
**You can still see that her one eye is dilated dilated yet too!

Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt

Kelly's class had an Easter Egg Hunt today!  Her teacher has been talking to them about the Easter SEASON....and that Easter isn't just one day!  So....she thought it would be fun to have an Easter Egg Hunt AFTER Easter Sunday.  The kids had a GREAT TIME!!

They all had to find 14 different items.....7 different colors of eggs, 3 special eggs (chick, bunny, & carrot), a juice bag, and three bags of stuff (pink for girls and blue for boys).  They all had SO MUCH FUN!!!
14 Adorable Kindergartners!!!

Easter Day

We celebrated Easter Day with a nice meal at our house.  It is SO nice being home for an entire holiday.  The girls were both AMAZINGLY good at our Easter Service, which was a nice surprise!  (Easter & Christmas are the only days they do not have children's service for part of the mass)

Grandma & Papa Murray, Grandma & Papa Snyder, Uncle Dave, Martha, and Kris once again joined us for our Easter Celebration.  The girls had a great time....and were spoiled by all their grandparents with Easter gifts!
The girls with Grandma Peggy & Papa Michael.....I remembered to take a picture after church BEFORE they gave them their baskets!!!
Kelly's super cool new sunglasses to match a swimsuit Grandma got her too!
Molly's new "Belle" dress-up dress!  She pretty much wore this the rest of the day!
The girls opening baskets from Grandma Pat & Papa Tom......they both got a fun new DVD - Hop & The Muppets - along with lots of other little things too!
Daddy & Uncle Dave hid eggs for the girls to go find!  Kelly found the one under the tree swing RIGHT AWAY!  I thought that one would have been hard!
Sliding down after finding eggs on the swing set
 Pink eggs under the slide
 Molly finds a purple egg!
Daddy "hooked" the bunny ears of an egg onto the lilac tree!
Uncle Dave helping Molly find her eggs!
Besides eating lunch....and the easter egg hunt.....this is pretty much what Kelly did the rest of Easter!  She worked on an M&M headband craft with Grandma Peggy almost the entire day!!!  It was one of the gifts in Kelly's basket.
 They are working hard!!!!
The headband turned out ADORABLE!!!!
Molly played in her room with Papa Michael for HOURS!!!!!  Molly LOVES her animals and they were playing with all her friends that "LIVE" in her bed!!!
Papa, Molly, Gonzo, Snowflake, Smurfette, Chippy, plus many more in her bed!!!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny found his way to our house again this year!
Full baskets!
 Kelly's basket
 Molly's basket
Two excited girls in the morning!!!  They couldn't wait to see if the Easter Bunny came!!
Kelly was excited to get the new DVD she has been wanting....Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2
Molly loved her new Disney Princess Books
The Easter Bunny brought Molly a Snow White Doll and Kelly a Barbie Doll
Kelly's reaction to opening her present from Mom & Dad!!!!
I love her facial expression!!!
We gave her a Lego Friends Beauty Shop!
Molly couldn't wait to get her new Lalaloopsey little doll opened that we gave her!  She LOVES it because the doll wears glasses!!!!
**Sidenote....trying to find dolls, princesses, ponies, or whatever "characters" that wear glasses is NOT an easy thing to do!!!
Molly with her new Lalaloopsey Little with glasses!
(I wish I didn't have the glare on her glasses, but that is an on-going struggle with pictures!)

Skate Country

Kelly received roller blades for Christmas this year.  We tried them once on our street, but it was too rough to "learn" how to skate.  When the Salow family invited us to come with them to Skate Country, we happily said yes!  We knew Kelly would LOVE it...and be able to actually try out her new roller blades.  We weren't sure about Molly....but thought we would give it a try.  All four kids had a great time.  Molly & Lexi tried a couple different kinds of skates, but eventually figured out which ones worked best.  We stayed the entire 3 hours of the open skate.  It was a fun afternoon!
Molly, Kelly, Logan, & Lexi
Kelly caught on really quick and wasn't ready to go home!  She kept improving and getting more brave throughout the afternoon.  She told us she even wants her FRIEND birthday party at Skate Country!
We tried regular roller skates on Molly first.....but she didn't like them.  We switched to the preschool skates that go over her shoes and she LOVED them!!!
Molly & Kelly skating together.  It was hard to get pictures as the lights and disco ball where always going!  The girls LOVED that part!!!
