Our Valentine's Day didn't start off quite as planned.....as Kelly woke up at 5am crying because her right ear hurt!
Rewind a week....Kelly started getting a cold last Friday. This cold didn't slow her down though! She still had a sleepover at a friends house, girl scouts, piano lessons, school, homework, etc. On Wednesday after Ash Wednesday morning service, she told me her right ear hurt. I looked at it, but didn't think much of it. The rest of the day was normal. (Sisters bickering all day, etc.) Before bed, Kelly told me her right ear hurt again. It is not like Kelly to complain about sickness.....normally, if she complains....she ends up with streap throat! Anyway, I told her if it hurt in the morning, we would have to take her to the doctor.
So....she woke up crying and I knew I had to call the doctor. Of course, it was Valentine's Day and Kelly had a small celebration at school (her Valentine's Day party was Tuesday because of Ash Wednesday and Lent) and Molly had her school Valentine's Party that I was helping at....and I was working at school too....and Kelly DOES NOT like to miss school! So, we all headed to school. Kelly had tylenol in her for the pain and I told her teacher. I called the doctor and made an appointment for after school. Kelly did ok in the morning but her teacher came to find me at lunch. I talked to Kelly and she wanted to finish school....so I gave her more medicine (as it wore off) for the pain. After school, we headed to Dubuque Pediatrics. Just as expected, Kelly has an ear infection in her right ear. (This is the third one in her life - the other two were January and April of 2007!)
Our family Valentine's Day tradition is to get a heart shaped pizza at Happy Joe's in Dyesrville. Since we were in Dubuque, we asked the girls if there was somewhere else they would like to eat dinner.....but they ONLY wanted a heart shaped pizza in Dyesville at Happy Joe's! So....after getting Kelly's medicine, we went back home.
***I think the girls enjoy traditions as much as their Mom!***
The pizza they were so excited about!
We hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!
