Turkey Cookies

After Kelly's DASH swim practice tonight....the girls made "turkey" cookies with Grandma Peggy for Thanskgiving!  The girls had fun putting the turkeys together (and sampling them too)!

Lefsa

Brian and Kelly went to Grandma and Grandpa Snyders house to make the traditional LEFSA for Thanksgiving.  Molly wanted to stay home with Mom.  Kelly absolutely LOVES lefsa!!!!  She likes everything about it....making it, sampling it while they are making it, eating it at Thanksgiving, and eating ALL the leftover lefsa too!

First Reconciliation

Kelly received the sacrament of first reconciliation tonight.  She has been preparing for this since the beginning of the school year.  This is the first sacrament she has received since baptism....and she was really excited (and a little nervous) for tonight.  Everything went great!

Kelly's 3rd Swim Meet

Kelly had her 3rd swim meet today.  

She competes in the 8 and under division.

***Her first meet was a mid-week intra-squad meet that DASH hosted on July 2.  She swam 25 back, 25 free, and 25 breast at that meet.  She was disqualified in the 25 back for not finishing on her back and was DQed in her 25 breast for not finishing with a two hand touch.**

***Her second meet was to finish the summer season.  She swam in the Regional two-day meet.  She swam a 25 free, 50 free, 25 back, 50 back, 25 breast, and 50 breast along with two relays.  she competed all 8 events and had NO DISQUALIFICATIONS!  She earned her first two ribbons at the regional meet!!!!  She was VERY EXCITED!  She earned 7th in the 50 back and 8th in the 25 back.  I was so proud of her.....as she just turned 7 years old and everyone that was ahead of her was already 8 years old!!!

***Today she had her third swim meet!  It was a one day meet hosted by DASH....so for the 8 and under division, they only had 25's of each stroke.  Kelly competed in the 25 Free, 25 Back, and 25 Breast.  She wanted to swim the 25 Fly....but I didn't sign her up for it as I wasn't sure if she was ready....and she was so upset at her first meet when she was DQed twice.  She had tried swimming a 25 Fly with my team at practice a couple times and could make it about 18-20 yards legally......so I didn't feel she was quite ready.  Anyway.....here is how she did!!!!!

3rd place - 25 Breast - 34.19 (she was seeded with a 35.07)

5th place - 25 Back - 26.82 (she was seeded with a 28.06)

10th place - 25 Free - 26.69 (she was seeded with a 27.84)

**She bettered her personal best times in every event!!!**

We are very proud of Kelly....and she was so excited to earn TWO MORE RIBBONS!!!

Her favorite strokes are back and breast....she doesn't like freestyle very much......but she hasn't quite figured out how to breath when she gets tired yet.  One of these days it will just click.  Kelly wanted to hang all her medals and ribbons on her wall.....so here it is....

STATE!!!!

I spent the weekend in Marshalltown with these 7 girls!  What a great season!  I am very proud of my team this year!!!  Only 4 seniors graduating......and only one of those is on varsity.  We will miss Lauren Noel greatly....but next season we will have a strong senior class!

My birthday

My birthday fell on state week this year....since the IGHSAU moved our season back one week.  After practice, we went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse with my Mom and Michael.....the meal was amazing!  My Mom had picked up an Oreo Blizzard DQ cake too!  The girls helped me celebrate turning 37 years old!

Districts!

Today was our District Swim meet.....the meet where we qualify for state!  I had 7 girls fully tapered for this meet....and 5 that were re-tapering from either the City or MVC Sophomore meets.  It was a fun meet with a lot of FAST SWIMMING!
