Election Day 2012

Xavier celebrated Election Day with a "mock election" and patriotic costume contest.  One person per grade was chosen as the MOST PATRIOTIC.  We had an all school-assembly at 2pm to discuss the results of our school election and announce the winners of the patriotic contest.  They announced preschool first.....and MOLLY WON!!!!!  She was very hesitant going up to get her certificate and award...but she did it!!! :)  When they got to first grade......KELLY WON as well!!!  I think the girls had my birthday luck....and Kelly had a lot of competition in 1st grade!!!
Since Election Day was my "real" birthday....Brian took a picture of the girls and I before we left all dressed up in red, white, and blue for school.
Molly going up to get her certificate from Mrs. Heisler....a little hesistant, but SO PROUD that she did it!!!
When Kelly's name was announced....she JUMPED RIGHT up and loved her moment of fame in front of the school!!!!

My birthday

We celebrated my birthday early with my Mom as she is leaving for a trip to California to see her friend.  We had a nice meal at Tony Roma's followed by Texas Chocolate Cake.   The girls love being able to help blow out the candles.  Mom also gave us Betty Jane Caramel Apples to enjoy and a couple pieces of buster bar dessert to keep in the freezer! :)  I have had my share of desserts this week!

***Thanks Mom & Michael for a nice meal and all the goodies!***

S*T*A*T*E

We completed a very successful swimming and diving season at the State Meet in Marshalltown Nov. 2 & 3.  I had a wonderful group of 24 girls this season.....with minimal drama.....and 9 of those girls being a part of the state team!  A varsity school record was broken this season (Emily Schroeder in the 200 IM as well as a frosh/soph school record by Sean Kalb in the 100 Free).  It was a wonderful 14th year coaching the WCHS Swim & Dive Team.

Trick-or-Treat

We had another great year of Trick-or-Treating around our house.  We went with the Salow family, another neighbor boy, and Kelly's friend Courtney from school.  All the kids had a great time.....and came home with a bucket full of goodies.  It worked out perfectly as Molly & Lexi were together, Kelly & Courtney, and Logan & Andy.  It was a little cool.....but a fun night for everyone!

Lexi & Molly going up to one of the houses.....I don't have any pictures of the other kids as they were always ahead of us.....and I was in back with these two girls.
 Our Trick-or-Treat gang....including Natalie!
While we were out Trick-or-Treating....we ran into Kelly's big sister, Jackie, from last year at Xavier.  She is now a 7th grader at Beckman....so Kelly doesn't get to see her very much.  Kelly was excited to see Jackie (Spongebob)!!!

Fern Halloween P*A*R*T*Y

Peyton, Helena, and Racquel wanted a Halloween party for all the kids!  Aunt Tami and Uncle Eric planned a great afternoon for all the kids....filled with bobbing for apples, a pinata, decorating sugar cookies, and other fun games!  Kelly & Molly had a great time celebrating Halloween with their cousins!
 Kelly bobbing for an apple!
The water was COLD.....she immediately wiped her face!  You can barely even tell she has the apple in her mouth!
Taking a bite out of her PRIZE!
Molly didn't want to bob for an apple.....so she played dress-up and played on the swing set instead!
Molly was first in line for the pinata - as she was the youngest!
 Kelly's turn at the pinata!

 CANDY!!!!!
The girls enjoyed frosting their cookies.....
...and eating them too!

***Thanks for a great Halloween Party, Fern family!***
