Kelly's 2nd Day of Kindergarten

Kelly enjoyed her second day of Kindergarten just as much as her first!

She asked me last night if I would take a picture of her with her Big Sister Jackie after school.

(Her other big sister rides the bus....so she doesn't walk her out after school)

Kelly's favorite part of the day was playing with her big sisters at the end of the school day!

Her second favorite was GYM class!

Tomorrow is her first FULL day of school. They had early release yesterday and today at 1pm. Tomorrow through Friday will be 8am-3pm everyday!

It's official.....

KELLY LOVES KINDERGARTEN!!!

When I asked her how her first day of Kindergarten was, she responded "AWESOME!"

I asked her what her favorite thing at school today was, and she said "EVERYTHING!"

After talking a little further, here are a few things she said...

**I LOVE my two big sisters!!! They are so nice...and they even thought my rainbow shoes were COOL!

(Sidenote...Kindergartners get paired with 6th grade buddies (big sisters) for the entire school year. They see them everyday and they walk them to where they need to go after school. Kelly's big sisters are Jackie Olberding & Mariah Pape)

** We are big kids now and we get to go through the lunch line....and our teachers don't even sit at our tables. We can say a little or a lot through the lunch line and we get CARTONS of milk! I picked chocolate milk today and drank it ALL!

(Sidenote...Last year the preschool teacher sat at the tables with them and they ate family style and got glasses of milk. I guess it's cool to go through the lunch line and get CARTONS of milk!)

** We had music class today....and we sang and got to dance too! It was fun!

(Sidenote...They have music twice a week, gym three times a week, art twice a week, and technology once a week. She is going to learn so much!)

** We played a game in our class. We had to find someone with blonde hair and they had to write there name on our paper. Then we did it with brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyes, and glasses. Only one person has glasses in my class. I told my teacher Molly wears glasses but she isn't big enough to write her name on my paper!

Overall....she loved everything! Those were just some of her favorites from the first day. We'll see what tomorrow brings!!!

Kelly's first day of KINDERGARTEN!!!!

Today is Kelly's first day of Kindergarten! She has been counting down the days for almost a month! She woke up this morning and Brian and I heard her say to herself "I get to go to Kindergarten today!" It was adorable! (She was still in her room and hadn't come out yet) She was so excited to put her uniform on and her new rainbow shoes and backpack too!

SMURFS!!!!

Brian and I took the girls to the SMURF movie on Sunday morning. It's cheaper if you go before noon...and Molly is free! Kelly LOVED it and laughed a lot and danced to many parts of the movie. There were only two other families in the theater which made it really nice as well. Molly enjoyed the parts she saw...but fell asleep on my lap about half-way through. Her favorite part was seeing ELMO in the movie!! She kept saying "Elmo in Smurf movie too!" It was pretty cute!!! It was our first family movie!

** Kelly has gone to Tangled with Grandma and I and Hop with Papa.

(Kelly also went to the free Shrek movie when she was 4 and both girls went to the free Cars 2 movie this summer...where Molly again fell asleep on me!)

After the movie we took the girls to Los Aztecas because kids eat free on Sundays. Here is Molly helping decorate with some of her Smurfs.

(ALL these Smurfs came from McDonald's. One of my friends is a manager at McDoanld's and the girls have all 16 of them....and doubles of a few of the main ones....Smurfette, Papa, Brainy, & Jokey)

We only paid for four of them....and they have 20!

Brian's company picnic

We had Brian's annual company work picnic at Murphy Park on Saturday afternoon (we went right after Kelly's soccer game). It's always fun for the kids......as there are a lot of little kids under 8 years old to play with. They cater the meal through Hy-Vee and provide all the drinks too. It was a nice afternoon.....until it started raining! The kids LOVED playing in the rain though....and the adults stayed under the shelter.....so it was a win-win for everyone!

Kelly's first SOCCER GAME!

Kelly had her first soccer game on Saturday morning. She had a lot of fun! She REALLY enjoys soccer...a little more than T-Ball....a lot more than gymnastics.....and sometimes even better than swimming! She is on the Stone Creek Dental Team....and they won their first game 2-0!

Kelly had a play date/back to school party at her friend Reese's house on Friday night! Reese got to invite three friends....and her older sister Lauren was able to do the same. It was a girls PARTY NIGHT! Kelly had a blast! Reese asked Kelly to sleepover....but us two mom's decided that would be better another night! Kelly is so excited to start Kindergarten with her friends!

Neighborhood Block Party

We had our annual neighborhood block party on Thursday night. It's always a great time for everyone to get together. The kids had a blast....running around together and playing games!

Soccer Season

Tonight was our last soccer practice before our first game this Saturday.

(I am volunteering to coach Kelly's Kindergarten soccer team with another Dad)

We had our team pictures tonight.....and after the photographer was finished with the individual and group picture....I couldn't resist taking this picture! I look forward to the next 7 weeks of soccer games!!!

Molly's 1st haricut

Molly had her first haircut on Monday (8/15).

Although they just trimmed it...and evened it out...it was time for a haircut!

She did great....and sat very still! :)

Kelly's sleepover

Kelly had a sleepover at Grandma Peggy & Papa Michael's on Sunday. She had a great time and LOVED everything they did together.....AND THEY DID A LOT!!!!

The started by playing mini golf at Derby Grange....and yes, Amy went along too!

It looks like Kelly needs some lessons on how to hold her putter correctly!

She had fun though....and tied with Grandma! Papa won!

After mini golf....it was off to Mines of Spain!

I guess that was a kid size.....looks VERY LARGE for a 5 year old!

After ice cream...back to Grandma's to make cupcakes!

Then they headed to the Arboretum for a free concert.
